What Makes BioBlue® Different?
When seeds from different plant families are combined, it’s called a “mix.” Our BioBlue mix is created in a way that fosters competition among the seed varieties and enhances the performance of both. The rich, deep blue-green color of a BioBlue lawn is one of its most important distinguishing characteristics. Another is the velvety-fine texture, one you can see and feel. Most people who visit the BioGrass test farms want to bend down and brush their fingers through our BioBlue sod–and we encourage them to do so. We know it’s the best way to fully appreciate the aesthetic difference in our approach to a bluegrass mix. BioBlue greens up fast in the spring and has excellent color characteristics throughout summer, fall and winter. Our BioBlue formulation was created with high endophyte (an “endophyte” is a fungus purposely grown within another plant) levels to provide tolerance to surface-feeding insects and environmental stresses. In addition, its dwarf growth habit can reduce clippings while maintaining excellent mowing characteristics.
-What to Expect from BioBlue:
BioBlue is raised to maturity prior to harvesting. At that point it is meticulously machine-harvested to a thickness of approximately 5/8 of an inch, in addition to blade growth. For best results, BioBlue requires direct sun for much of the day, but it is moderatly tolerant to shade as well.

–BioMeadow–

BioMeadow: Fine Fescue with the BioGrass Difference
Rarely does grass look just as good messy as it does manicured. A field of BioMeadow could be easily mistaken for one of Scotland’s finest pastures – whether you trim it to precision or let it blossom with abandon, creating a beautiful backdrop for wildflowers. BioMeadow’s special mix of seed varieties was formulated for rich, green color, even in the high temperatures and dry climate of the Mountain West desert. The slender blade and thick cuticle of the fine-fescue blend give it a delicate, wispy appearance. These features also help BioMeadow use less water, retain its color in low-water situations and stay hardy in both sunny and shady spots.

Every grass has a story.
A “mix” is a combination of seeds from different plant species. And no one mixes a meadow quite like BioGrass’s turf scientists. We experiment with endless formulations to get the ideal grasses in the right ratios. We dial in vibrant color that lasts from earlyspring to late fall. We ensure self-repair beyond compare. Then we esablish the ever-important drought tolerance, low fertilizer and water needs.

In this case, the results are a lush meadow perfect for picnics, naps, freeze tag or daydreaming from a nearby window. BioMeadow can grow from 9 to 12 inches tall. It has a dense root system that helps control erosion. And like the Mountain West’s resilient people, it can flourish at high elevationsor on a valley floor.

Bringing home beauty.
We raise BioMeadow® to maturity and mow it down to 3 inches before meticulously machine-harvesting it in slabs and rolls approximately 5/8 of an inch thick. We inspect every bit of our sod before bringing it your way, at which point it should be installed immediately.

Once it’s installed? Mow your BioMeadow® regulaly to a minimum 3 inches tall. Or let it go wild and mow it a couple of times a year – once in fall and once in spring. Either way, BioMeadow® needs regular water and fertilizer to thrive. And kind of like kids, the more you feed it, the taller and sturdier it will grow.

–BioNative®

BioNative® – Native Lawn Sod with the BioGrass® Difference
For use on sustainable landscapes
What better sod to enhance your Utah landscape than the grass found naturally in the peaks and valleys of Mountain West? We’ve selected the most attractive native grass species and adaptive plant varieties out there to bring you BioNative sod. Bred for beauty over ballgames, BioNative’s medium texture and familiar hues are ideal for low-maintenance areas. This special blend of warm-weather and cool-weather grasses was made for Utah soil. So even if your property doesn’t extend from the valley floor to extreme Alpine conditions, rest assured, your sod could handle it.

The best of nature. And science.
A “mix” is a combination of seeds from different plant species. And no one mixes a meadow quite like BioGrass’s turf scientists. We experiment with endless formulations to get the ideal grasses in the right ratios. We seek out natural color that lasts from early spring to late fall. We ensure self-repair beyond compare. Then we establish the ever important drought tolerance.

With BioNative®, we’ve brought to life a native sod blend that needs little water or fertilizer. No surprise, it does well when left alone in both sunny and shady surroundings. It can grow to heights of 12 to 36 inches tall. But while it’s genetically programmed to withstand extreme temperatures and dry spells, BioNative isn’t naturally equipped to handle hoards of hyperactive children (or adults).

Feeling right at home.
We raise BioNative to maturity and mow it down to 5 inches before meticulously machine-harvesting it in slabs and rolls approximately 5/8 of an inch thick. We inspect every bit of our sod before bringing it your way, at which point it should be installed immediately. Once it’s installed? You can mow your BioNative regularly to a minimum 5 inches tall. Or let it go wild and mow it a couple of times a year ? once in fall and once in spring. It doesn’t take much to keep BioNative growing beautifully. Give it a little extra water now and then and you’ll only enhance its natural color and density.

–BioPlay®

BioPlay®
For use on Golf, Sports Fields and High Traffic areas.
Ever walked onto a sports field with more bare spots than sod? Or slid and burned your skin on a stretch of non-natural turf? Either way, you can recognize the importance of scientifically formulated natural grass bred to stay soft, green and hardy while withstanding the full force of professional athletes in motion. It’s a unique blend we call BioPlay.

It’s the safest surface for athletes.
Ask most professional football players if they prefer natural grass over non-natural turf and they’ll answer “absolutely.” Some even believe non-natural turf can end a career early. That’s because it can increase pressure on joints and bones, resulting in sprains and more serious injuries. It can also harbor harmful bacteria that can enter the body through a seemingly minor turf burn and result in a possibly life-threatening infection. At the same time, BioPlay natural grass provides a forgiving surface that cleans and regenerates on its own, consistently creating a new field for everyone’s enjoyment. And all-natural BioPlay’s “good” bacteria easily break down the blood, sweat and tears athletes bring to the field in every game.

It’s scientifically formulated for sports fields.
Exclusive seed mixes. Precise horticultural practices. Top turf scientists. It all adds up to BioPlay: High-quality natural sod that grows quickly, withstands wear and tear, maintains a deep, durable root system ? and is carefully grown and harvested to strict sports-field specifications. That means you don’t have to flinch when a new team’s cleats hit the field. It also means that a little rain won’t turn your game on BioPlay into a mud-wrestling match.

It stays cool – and beautiful . And then some.
Did you know non-natural turf can get so hot in the summer sun that it can actually burn a player on the field? Fortunately, BioPlay’s built-in cooling mechanisms continually pull water through its blades into the air to maintain reasonable temperatures. And speaking of air, BioPlay absorbs airborne pollutants to improve the stuff we’re breathing both on and off the field. It also has an exceptionally rich, green color and a fine leaf texture for a uniform appearance. And, of course, everybody loves its fresh-cut smell.

Real grass. Real benefits.
There are plenty of reasons why pro football players – and many other athletes – prefer natural grass. Blend the latest in natural turf science with proper maintenance and you have the best outdoor sports surface money can buy. We call it BioPlay. You’ll cal it the ultimate field for even punishing play.

–What Makes BioTurf® Different?

Dwarf Fescue Sod Mix
A “mix” is a combination of seeds from different plant families. Our BioTurf mix is created in a way that fosters competition among the seed varieties and enhances the performance of both. A BioTurf lawn has a wonderfully rich, dark-green color. The texture is medium-fine, one that’s ideal for staging everything from a game of football to a family picnic. BioTurf will give you a beautiful yet rough-and-tumble lawn that will only get better over time. In addition, if watered properly, BioTurf will send its roots deep down into the soil and consequently use less water than most other turfgrass sod.

BioTurf greens up early in the spring and maintains excellent color characteristics throughout summer and fall. Our BioTurf formulation was created with high endophyte (an “endophyte” is fungus purposely grown within another plant) levels to provide tolerance to specific surface-feeding insects as well as environmental stresses.

In addition, its dwarf growth habit can reduce clippings while maintaining excellent mowing characteristics. Follow suggested water and maintenance practices for best results.

What to Expect from BioTurf:
BioTurf is raised to maturity prior to harvesting. At that point it is meticulously machine-harvested to a thickness of approximately 5/8 of an inch, in addition to blade growth. BioTurf performs better in shade than most other turfgrass sod mixes, but the optimal environment is one with full sunlight for much of the day.
